Rural market// Meeting the villagers of Nguerigne // Full Day Excursion

These excursions allow meeting with locals, to see their way of life, culture, craftwork, dishes, music, work. Those meetings are genuine and interactive.  They allow exchanges, transmission of « knowledge ,know-how, and make known» of locals, and learning their history. Meetings occur in locals natural surroundings with real attractiveness. It fulfills the need of country discovering . You will be with an english speaking  guide with a deep knowledge of local traditions and culture. Diving in the mist of senegalese life, away from touristic beaten paths and share with villagers the highlights of their days.  privileged exchange moments with the families, head of village, visit of a school a dispensary, and meeting the traditional healer. You could find out their farming products, take part of the making and sharing of lunch and participate in workshops. Visit of the ethnic Sereres & Peulh Villages, before getting in the earth of the bush between Baobabs & giant termites 

One big local, colourful, weekly market where locals bargain for vegetables, fruits, animals, grains, and fabrics…

A day to put you deep in the African rural life and to share with villagers far from the cities and their daily occupation in their fields, homes, etc… A privilege occasion to share with families & the chef of the village, visit of a class room, & maternity, visit of a traditional healer.

1 Journée : Saint-Louis "Au Royaume des Signares"

Senegal’s northern region, where the sea and the river merge together in a fabulous panorama of landscapes, is one with a glorious past, inherited from French colonization, and prodigious cultural and natural wealth260 kms north of Dakar, at the edge of the Ocean, the Sahara, and the bush, Saint Louis of Senegal has ever been the best  entry point to the discovery of Africa. It's hard to stay in Saint Louis and not leave a little piece of one’heart.  From this former WAF’s capital comes out a particular charm, mix of nostalgia and friendly sympathy. From legendary Mermoz and Saint Exupéry to the writter Pierre Loti, from actresses Richard Borhinger and Bernard Giraudeau, to the pioneer of modern advertising Marcel Blanchet, many are those who gave in to that town, « crossroad of ethnic groups and culture ». We hope you’'ll enjoy it. 

             Early departure at 07H00, after breakfast toward Thiès, going through basketry. Stop at the Guéoul’s baobab site. Arrival at St Louis at about 12h00. Lunch on river side. In the afternoon visits, discovering and ballads on horse carriage to visit At Louis from north to south with the must-visit fisherman's village of N’Guet N’Dar. Back to Dakar(or Saly) Arrival about 19H00.

Located 260 Km North of Dakar, on the Ocean’s border, the Sahara and the Bush, Saint Louis was always the best introduction to discover Africa. No possible to stay in St Louis without leaving a part of our heart

From this former capital city of French West Africa emanates a particular charm, a mixture of nostalgia and sympathetic feelings

This small red Desert of 18km is a very particular discovery , not to be missed

Day 2 /  LOMPOUL-ST LOUIS-DAKAR

In the afternoon visits, discovering and ballads on horse carriage to visit At Louis from north to south with the must-visit fisherman's village of N’Guet N’Dar. Back to Dakar (or Saly). Arrival about 19H00.

(Depending on the Djoudj national park opening period, the excursion of St Louis could be devoted to a discovery in a Canoe through the back waters of the Birds International Park of Djoudj. Classified world heritage by Unesco, Djoudj is also the third birds reserve in the world. Located 70km from Saint-Louis where thousand of different kind of birds are found. Djoudj is the first water point after the crossing of the Sahara for migratory Birds Then in  case of closure, this visit will be replaced by the National Park of Langue de Barbarie located in the Delta of Senegal River to observe seabirds, turtles and impressive Lezards..On our way back: Stop Lunch and continuation in Saly late in the afternoon.)
